Fellowships for research in Japan

Thursday, 24 July, 2014

Invitational and postdoctoral research fellowships are available to Australian researchers to work in Japan during 2015-16.

Offered annually by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JPSP), in association with the Australian Academy of Science (and the Australian Research Council for postdoc fellowships), the postdoctoral fellowships are for a period of 12-24 months and invitational fellowships are for 14-60 days (short term) or 2-10 months (long term).

The postdoctoral fellowship program gives Australian postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to undertake cooperative research with research groups in Japanese universities and institutions.

The JSPS invitation fellowships aim to promote international scientific cooperation and exchange. The fellowships allow researchers at designated Japanese research institutions and universities to invite fellow researchers from Australia to Japan to participate in discussions, attend seminars, give lectures, etc.

Areas of research covered by the fellowships include any field of natural sciences, including medicine, technology, engineering and mathematics, the humanities and the social sciences.

More information and guidelines are available.  Applications close on Friday, 29 August 2014.
